There are two different things people mean by "connect Wix email to Gmail," and it matters which one you're after. Manually forwarding a custom-domain mailbox into Gmail over POP3 is one route, but Wix also ships a built-in Gmail integration that works the other direction: it links your Gmail account to the Wix Inbox so conversations that start on your site, through forms, live chat, or messages, continue in your Gmail without logging into two places. 01Open the Wix Inbox
From your site dashboard, click Inbox in the left-hand menu. This is the central hub for every message a visitor sends you, whether it arrives through a contact form, live chat widget, or another connected channel. It's worth knowing your way around it before setting anything up: saved replies and automations live here too, and they apply to messages no matter whether you're reading them in Wix or in Gmail after connecting.
02Open Communication Channels and manage the Gmail app
Inside the Inbox, open the Settings dropdown in the top right, click Communication Channels, then click Manage App next to Gmail account. This dedicated page is where the connection lives, separate from your general site settings, so if you're hunting for it, Communication Channels is the section to check first.
03Grant Google access and connect
Before connecting, Wix lays out two things worth reading carefully. First, emails from your personal Gmail account will not appear in the Wix Inbox; this only syncs conversations that started on your site.
Second, sending emails from your Gmail address through Wix means granting Wix access to your Google account. Click Continue with Google, choose the account to connect, then check the boxes for what Wix can access and continue. You're sent through Google's own OAuth consent screen rather than typing a password anywhere inside Wix.
04Confirm the connection is active
After granting access, you land back on the Gmail Account page with the connected address shown and its status reading Connected. A Disconnect button sits right next to it, worth knowing about since there's no separate confirmation step buried in another menu: disconnecting here takes effect immediately, and any future replies you send from that Gmail address stop showing up in the Wix Inbox.
05Understand what syncs and what doesn't
Only messages that continue a conversation already started in the Wix Inbox appear there. A brand-new email you send from your personal Gmail, unrelated to any Wix conversation, will not show up in the Inbox.
This is a continuation sync, not a full mailbox import, so don't expect your entire Gmail history to populate inside Wix. Gmail isn't the only channel Wix will connect this way either; Outlook can be linked separately through the Outlook for Inbox app in the Wix App Market, and both can be connected to the same site at once.
When it doesn't work
Gmail was connected but conversations stopped syncing
Why: Wix's own guidance points to expired or revoked Google permissions as the usual cause.
Fix: Disconnect fully from the Gmail Account settings page, then run through Continue with Google again from scratch rather than trying to patch a half-connected state.
A personal email you sent from Gmail never showed up in the Wix Inbox
Why: That's expected behavior, not a bug. The sync only carries messages that continue a conversation the site started; anything else stays in Gmail only.
Fix: None needed. Check the message in Gmail directly rather than looking for it in Wix.
