Squarespace lets you forward a domain to another website without touching DNS or transferring the domain itself. This guide covers the built-in Forwarding feature, including choosing a redirect type and deciding whether to preserve URL paths.
01Open the Forwarding section
Log in to Squarespace, select the site, then go to Website in the left sidebar and scroll to Forwarding. Click Add Rule to start.
02Set the subdomain and destination
Enter @ to forward your root domain or www for that subdomain, then enter the full destination URL you want traffic sent to.
03Choose a redirect type
Under Advanced Settings, pick Permanent Redirect (301) if the original domain is retired, or Temporary Redirect (302) if it will be used again later.
04Enable SSL
Turn SSL on so the redirect works for both HTTP and HTTPS traffic, keeping in mind it can take up to 48 hours to fully propagate.
05Set path forwarding and save
Choose Remove Paths to send every page to the new site's homepage, or Maintain Paths to preserve the original URL structure, then click Save.
