If your Kanban board is full of cards but you can't tell which epic each one rolls up to, Jira has a built-in way to show that context right on the board. This walkthrough covers how to turn epic visibility on and use it while you're triaging or planning work.
01Open your Kanban board
Navigate to the project's Kanban board from the sidebar. This is where the epic panel and card details live.
02Enable the epic panel or swimlanes
Use the board settings to turn on the epic panel (or group swimlanes by epic), which lists every epic in the project alongside the board.
03Select an epic to filter the board
Click an epic in the panel to highlight or filter the cards that belong to it, so you can focus on just that slice of work.
04Check the epic label on each card
Cards typically show a small colored epic tag; use this to quickly identify an epic without opening the panel at all.
05Clear the filter when you're done
Deselect the epic to return to the full board view before moving on to other planning tasks.

Why don't I see any epics on my Kanban board?
The epic panel may be turned off in board settings, or no issues on the board have been assigned to an epic yet.
Can I filter the board to show only one epic?
Yes, clicking an epic in the panel filters the board to just the cards linked to it.
