How to Set Up an Email Campaign in GoHighLevel Easily 2026

By Impran M N

Setting up an email campaign in GoHighLevel takes you from the Marketing section's Emails tab to a fully designed template, with an AI assistant sitting inside the builder to speed up the design work. This guide covers where the Emails tab actually lives, how the Campaigns screen looks before you've built anything, and what the drag-and-drop builder with its Email AI panel offers once you start. It's useful for beginners just getting into email marketing as well as small business owners and marketers looking to make their outreach more consistent.

01Find the Emails tab inside Marketing

Email campaigns live under the Marketing section in the left sidebar, alongside Social Planner, Snippets, Countdown Timers, Trigger Links, and a few other tools along the same top row. Click Emails in that row to get to the campaign area — it's easy to land on Social Planner by mistake since it's the first tab and opens by default when you click into Marketing, so double-check you're on the right sub-tab before building anything.

02Open the Campaigns screen and start a new one

Inside Emails, three sub-tabs sit at the top: Statistics, Campaigns, and Templates. Campaigns is where individual sends live, further split into Email Campaigns, Workflow Campaigns, and Bulk Action Campaigns in the left rail.

On a fresh account this screen shows "No Campaigns" with a prompt to create one. Click +New in the top right, and a dropdown offers three starting points: Blank, Email Marketing Templates, or Your Templates — pick Blank for a from-scratch design or a template if you want a head start on layout.

03Design the email with the drag-and-drop builder

Choosing a starting point opens the visual builder, where content blocks — headers, images, text, buttons — stack in a scrollable canvas you edit directly. A named template shown in the video, "14 - Financial Consultant," has a header block reading "LOGO HERE," a hero section pairing an image with a headline and a Schedule a Consultation button, and additional sections below for supporting content. Save, Preview, and Send or Schedule sit in the top right, so you can check how it renders before committing to anything.

04Use Email AI to speed up the build

A panel on the left labeled Email AI opens with two modes, Assist and Build, and greets you by account name offering to help build a template. It surfaces quick-start prompts like "Welcome and quickstart guide," "Price increase last call," "Calendar reminder sequence," "Reminder Mail," and "We miss you reactivation" — common email types you can generate a starting draft from instead of designing every block manually. A free-text box at the bottom lets you type your own instructions, like "make the hero section shorter" or "add a testimonials block," and the AI edits the template accordingly.

05Build or import your contact list

A campaign needs recipients before it can send. GoHighLevel pulls from your existing Contacts, which you can filter into smart lists by tag, source, or custom field, or you can import a CSV of new contacts directly. Decide on your segmentation before you finish designing the email, since the message you write should match who's actually receiving it — a reactivation email makes sense for cold contacts but not for someone who just converted.

06Schedule the send for when your audience is active

Once the design and list are ready, the Send or Schedule button in the top right of the builder lets you choose immediate delivery or a future date and time. Scheduling around when your specific audience checks email — often weekday mornings for B2B lists, evenings or weekends for consumer audiences — tends to outperform sending the moment a campaign is finished, so it's worth testing send times rather than defaulting to whenever the build happens to wrap up.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where exactly is the email campaign builder in GoHighLevel?

Go to Marketing in the left sidebar, then click the Emails tab in the top row (next to Social Planner and Snippets), then Campaigns, and finally +New to start building.

Do I need a large contact list to run an email campaign in GoHighLevel?

No. You can run a campaign with any size list, whether you're importing a small CSV of new contacts or sending to an existing, larger segment from Contacts.

Can I schedule an email campaign in advance?

Yes. The Send or Schedule button in the top right of the email builder lets you pick a future date and time instead of sending immediately.

What does the Email AI panel actually do?

It offers quick-start templates for common email types — welcome sequences, price increase notices, reminders, reactivation emails — and can edit your draft based on typed instructions in its Assist and Build modes.

What's the difference between Email Campaigns, Workflow Campaigns, and Bulk Action Campaigns?

These are the three sub-categories under Campaigns in the left rail. Email Campaigns are standalone sends, Workflow Campaigns are emails triggered inside an automation, and Bulk Action Campaigns apply an action across many contacts at once.
