How to Use Nectar Points on Ebay, New Rules 2026

Before that date, linking your Nectar and eBay accounts was enough on its own: points built up automatically every time you checked out on eBay, and you could spend them there too. eBay's help centre now states that direct earning and spending stopped on 1 September 2024, so points no longer accrue simply because the two accounts are linked. The eBay partnership still exists on Nectar's side. It's just treated as a shopping destination now, the same way Nectar treats any other retailer in its points scheme, and that's where earning happens.

Go to Nectar's eBay page at nectar.com, or open the eBay listing inside the Nectar app, and click through from there before you start browsing. Nectar's terms are specific about this: points are awarded only on purchases completed online "on the retailer's site, only when accessed exclusively from the Website." Opening eBay directly, or clicking away to another site or an ad banner partway through your shop, can break the tracking and cost you the points on that order.

If you don't already have a Nectar account, the eBay page offers a join option next to sign-in for existing members. Either way, be signed in to Nectar, in the same browser, before you click through to eBay. The account that earns the points is whichever one you're logged into at the moment of the click-through, not something configured once and forgotten.

Nectar's eBay page lists the standard rate as usually 2 points per £1, with occasional short-term bonus offers on top; a 4-points-per-£1 promotion has run as a time-limited deal. Points are not awarded on delivery and postage costs, gift cards, purchases made with a discount or voucher code, or VAT and other taxes.

There are upper limits too: Nectar caps qualifying purchases at £13,500, with lower caps in the Business & Industrial and Motors categories, and it excludes some categories outright, including gold bars or coins and charity or non-profit listings. Points typically take 45 to 90 days to land in your account after a qualifying purchase.

There's no option to redeem Nectar points during eBay checkout any more. If you converted points into an eBay voucher before the 1 September 2024 cutoff, eBay confirms that voucher stays valid for one year from the day it was created. After that, spending happens through Nectar's own reward catalogue instead of eBay directly.
