How to Set Up a WhatsApp Campaign in Brevo Easily 2026

By Impran M N

WhatsApp reaches more than 2 billion people, and Brevo lets you run marketing broadcasts on it from the same dashboard you already use for email and SMS, without touching Meta's developer console directly. The setup is short but plan-gated and a little scattered across sections of the help center, so it helps to know exactly which menu holds each step before you start clicking around. This guide walks through starting a campaign the way Brevo's own documentation lays it out, plus the plan and compliance details that trip people up before a single message goes out.

01Confirm your plan supports WhatsApp campaigns

WhatsApp campaigns are not available on every Brevo tier. Brevo's own comparison marks Free, Starter, and Standard with an X, while Professional and Enterprise show it as an available add-on.

If you're on a lower plan, the Marketing > Campaigns > WhatsApp path described below simply won't have anything to click. It's worth checking this first rather than working through the rest of the setup and hitting a wall at the send step.

02Link your WhatsApp Business account first

Before any of the campaign screens matter, Brevo needs your WhatsApp Business account linked and at least one phone number connected. This is a separate setup flow from the campaign builder itself, so if you haven't done it yet, expect to be redirected there before you can proceed. Brevo also explicitly prohibits sending passwords in readable form or any content that requires authentication, such as auto-login links, inside a WhatsApp message, so plan your message content with that restriction in mind from the start.

03Create the campaign and give it an internal name

Go to Marketing, then Campaigns, then WhatsApp, and click Create campaign. Choose WhatsApp as the campaign type, then name it in the text field that appears — up to 60 characters.

This name is only visible to you inside the Brevo dashboard; your recipients never see it, so use something that will help you find the campaign later rather than anything customer-facing. Click Start to move into the actual campaign setup.

04Choose the sender

In the From section, click Edit to pick which of your connected, verified WhatsApp numbers the campaign sends from. If you manage more than one brand or region through the same Brevo account, this is where you make sure the right number is attached, since recipients will see this as the contact they can reply to directly on WhatsApp.

05Select your recipients

Move to the To section and choose which contact list or segment receives the campaign. Because WhatsApp marketing is opt-in and Meta actively polices unsolicited messages, only send to contacts who've explicitly consented to WhatsApp communication — reusing an email list without checking WhatsApp consent is a fast way to get a sender number flagged or suspended.

06Design the message and schedule the send

In Message content, build the actual text your recipients will see, keeping Brevo's content restrictions in mind. Once the message is ready, use the Schedule your campaign section to send immediately or set a future time. One current limitation worth knowing before you plan a US-focused send: Brevo's documentation notes that as of April 1, 2025, Meta has temporarily suspended WhatsApp marketing templates to numbers with a United States country code, so check Meta's own documentation if your list includes US contacts.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Meta Business account to use WhatsApp campaigns in Brevo?

Yes. Your WhatsApp Business account and at least one phone number must be linked to Brevo before the campaign builder is usable, which happens through a separate connection flow, not inside the campaign screen itself.

Which Brevo plans include WhatsApp campaigns?

According to Brevo's plan comparison, Free, Starter, and Standard do not include it. Professional and Enterprise include it as an add-on.

Can I send WhatsApp marketing messages to US phone numbers right now?

As of April 1, 2025, Meta temporarily suspended WhatsApp marketing template sends to US-coded numbers, according to Brevo's help documentation. Check Meta's official documentation for the current status before planning a US send.

Will my recipients see the campaign name I choose?

No. The campaign name you set when creating it (up to 60 characters) is only visible to you inside Brevo — it's for internal organization, not customer-facing content.

Can I put login links or passwords in a WhatsApp campaign message?

No. Brevo strictly prohibits sending passwords in readable format or content requiring authentication, such as auto-login links, in WhatsApp messages.
