How to Switch to Classic View in QuickBooks Online Easily 2026

By Impran M N

When QuickBooks Online rolls out a new interface, familiar menus can suddenly feel out of reach. This guide shows how to switch back to the Classic View so you can keep working without hunting for relocated tools.

01Open the settings menu

Click the gear icon in the top right corner of your QuickBooks Online dashboard to open the settings dropdown.

02Find the view switcher

Under the Your Company column, look for a link labeled Switch to Classic View or Switch to Accountant View.

03Confirm the switch

Click the switch link, optionally leave feedback on why you're reverting, and confirm to trigger the layout change.

04Verify the classic layout

Check that your left navigation sidebar and transaction hubs now match the familiar legacy menu structure.

05Lock in your preference

Review your settings to make sure QuickBooks remembers your choice so it defaults to Classic View the next time you log in.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Will switching to Classic View delete any data?

No, changing your view is purely a layout preference and does not affect your transactions or account data.

Can I switch back to the new view later?

Yes, the same settings menu lets you toggle back to the updated interface whenever you choose.

Why can't I find the Classic View option?

It's usually located under the gear icon's Your Company section; if it's still missing, your account type or QuickBooks version may not offer it.

It mainly changes the navigation layout, but you may notice differences in how invoices, banking, and reports are organized on screen.
