How to Set Up QuickBooks Payments and Accept Credit Card and ACH Easily 2026

Enabling QuickBooks Payments lets your clients pay invoices online through a card swipe or direct ACH transfer, without routing through a separate third-party processor. This guide covers the merchant onboarding process, setting your deposit account, and turning on payment options for invoices.

01Open Account and Settings

Click the Gear icon and select Account and Settings, then go to the Payments tab in the left-hand sidebar.

02Start the merchant application

Click the Learn More or Connect button inside the QuickBooks Payments section to begin onboarding.

03Enter your business details

Fill in your business structure and owner information in the secure merchant form.

04Link your deposit account

Select the checking account where your payouts should land, then click Activate Payments to run the automated approval.

05Enable payment options and test

Check the boxes for Credit Card and ACH to enable both globally, then create a test invoice to confirm the payment links appear correctly.
