Paying off your business credit card balance needs to be recorded correctly so your checking account and credit card liability both reconcile. QuickBooks Online has a dedicated Pay Down Credit Card form for exactly this transfer. This guide covers logging the payment and matching it to your bank feed.

01Open the payment form

Click + New, then select Pay Down Credit Card under the Other column.

02Choose the credit card account

Select the specific credit card account you're paying down from the first dropdown.

03Enter amount and date

Type the exact amount transferred and set the payment processing date.

04Select your funding source

Choose your main checking account in the field asking what account you used to make the payment.

05Add a memo and save

Note the transaction in the memo box for a clean audit trail, click Save and Close, then verify it against your bank feed on the Bank Transactions screen.
