04Update the details
Rewrite the account name and description, and check or uncheck Is Sub-Account to adjust hierarchy.
05Save and verify
Click Save and Close, then run a Trial Balance report to confirm your changes didn't disrupt ledger consistency.
Frequently asked questions
Can I merge two duplicate accounts?
Yes, editing one account's name to exactly match another triggers a merge prompt that consolidates both and remaps historical transactions.
Will renaming an account affect past reports?
The name updates across your entire reporting framework, but historical transaction amounts remain unchanged.
How do I nest an account under another one?
Check the Is Sub-Account box in the edit drawer and select the parent account you want it nested under.
What should I check after editing accounts?
Run a quick Trial Balance report right after editing to verify your ledger is still consistent.
