How to Delete Bank Transactions in QuickBooks Online Easily 2026

By Impran M N

Not every downloaded bank transaction belongs on your books, whether it's a duplicate, a personal charge, or a sync error. This guide shows the safe path in QuickBooks Online: excluding first, then permanently deleting from the archive.

01Open Bank Transactions

Go to Transactions, then Bank Transactions, and select your checking, savings, or credit card account.

02Select the unwanted rows

In the For Review queue, check the boxes next to duplicate or non-business transactions, selecting multiple for bulk processing if needed.

03Exclude the transactions

Click the Exclude action button in the header control ribbon to strip the rows from your main feed.

04Open the Excluded tab

Navigate to the Excluded workspace tab to review everything you've pulled out of the active feed.

05Permanently delete

Check the items you want gone for good and click Delete, then confirm the warning prompt to let your ledger recalculate.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I delete a transaction directly from For Review?

QuickBooks requires you to first move it to the Excluded tab as a safety step before permanent deletion is available.

What's the difference between excluding and deleting?

Excluding removes a transaction from your active feed but keeps it recoverable; deleting permanently purges it from your files.

Can I undo an accidental exclusion?

Yes, the Undo feature lets you instantly recover a transaction you excluded by mistake.

Will deleting a bank transaction affect my reconciliation?

It can, so review the warning prompt carefully and confirm the transaction isn't part of a completed reconciliation before deleting.
