01Open Settings from Claude's account menu
From Claude's home screen, click your account icon in the bottom-left corner to open the account menu, then choose Settings. 02Open Connectors and search for Notion

If you're a guest in someone else's workspace, not its owner, you can only grant Claude the pages you personally have permission to see, not the whole workspace. If you belong to more than one Notion workspace, Notion asks you to pick one explicitly, so check you're selecting the right one before confirming.

Once connected, Claude can search pages in the authorized workspace and read their contents when you ask, pulling structured detail like a nested bullet list documenting a system's functions instead of you scanning the page yourself. Ask about a page directly and get an answer grounded in what's written there.
05Use it for project docs and knowledge bases
The integration is most useful on pages with real structure already in place: project trackers, system documentation, onboarding wikis. Claude can navigate that structure instead of treating the page as one undifferentiated block of text.
Ask it to summarize a page, compare details across a few related pages, or draft new content that follows the format of what's already there. For teams, it's a faster way to onboard someone into a documentation-heavy workspace, since they can ask questions instead of reading every page cover to cover.
06Manage or disconnect it later
Revisit Settings > Customize > Connectors to confirm Notion is still listed, and disconnect from the same screen if you switch workspaces or want to reset access. Because Claude only sees what your Notion account can see, losing access to a page in Notion, being removed as a collaborator, for example, automatically narrows what Claude can retrieve too. There's no separate permission system layered on top of Notion's own.
07Write prompts that point Claude at the right page
Once a workspace has several connected pages, name the page or its parent section in your question instead of describing the topic loosely; that gets a more accurate answer faster. Treat Claude's Notion search the way you'd treat Notion's own search bar: specific titles and section names narrow results quickly, while a vague topic description can pull in more pages than you wanted referenced.
When it doesn't work
Claude says it can't find a page you know exists
Why: Claude only sees what your own Notion account has permission to see. If you're a guest on that workspace, or the page's sharing settings changed, the page is invisible to Claude too, not a sign the connector failed.
Fix: Check your own access to the page inside Notion first. If you can't open it there, reconnecting in Claude won't help.
Notion shows as connected but Claude can't act on it
Why: The underlying authorization can expire or get revoked from Notion's side without Claude showing an obvious error.
Fix: Go to Settings > Customize > Connectors, disconnect Notion, then reconnect to refresh the authorization.
